If you already own a record player or tape cassette deck and want to transfer and save your vinyl or tape collections into digital files on your PC or MAC for copying to CD or MP3, “U-Record” is all you need.

Does "what it says on the tin" - works well and recordings are fine. Having not tried any cheaper alternatives cannot comment on value for money, but chose this product because of the input volume adjustment facility.

Seems to work fine with records. I needed a bit of assistance from the Ion helpline to get started however. I haven't converted any tapes yet.
