Q: How easy is it to install AudCap?
A: It is extremely easy to install AudCap. You simply need to follow 4 simple steps:
- Step 1: Connect your existing tape or record player to Audio Capture
- Step 2: Connect Audio Capture to your computer using the USB lead supplied
- Step 3: Transfer your music to your computer using the provided software
- Step 4: Enjoy your music on your MP3 player or burn to CD

Q: Do I need to install drivers before using this audio capture device?
A: The Audio Capture device doesn’t need any driver installation, as the Windows Operating System will install the driver automatically.

Q: How do I get it to work with a Mac?
A: You can download a software update to allow the provided Audacity software to work with a Mac. Please click here

Q: I cannot connect the Audio Capture to my record player / tape deck?
A: You may need to also use a ‘male-to-male’ RCA lead which is supplied with your audio capture.

Q: How do use the ‘Effects’ within the ‘Audacity’ software?
A: To use the ‘Effects’ functions provided in the drop-down menus on Audacity software (such as noise removal or bass boost), you need to select the portion of your recorded music to be changed – to do this ‘click, hold and drag’ with your left mouse key the section of music from the horizontal time bar found in the Audacity window (on screen). Then simply select ‘Effect’ from the top menu and choose your desired effect.

The product works well but the whole process is not exactly easy. There is a lot of changing wires and plugs when recording music to the computer hard drive. The instruction manual is clear except for the diagrams on how to connect the cables between the recorder and the computer. As this is one of the vital parts of the process I would have thought it merited more than very small and poorly printed diagrams. There were a lot of cables in the box I presume one set are just extensions - although nothing is said about them in the instructions - and there is an additional plug supplied and I don't know what it is for although it talks about male to male connections - which I don't understand. So, overall a better explanation of the plug-in set up would be useful as we are not all audiophiles. [T2 Direct Response] - We have now uploaded a set-up and troubleshooting guide (FAQs), which should hopefully help with any issues that may arise.

Does just what I want it to, capturing music from a good turnable/ tone arm/ cartridge combination, with an end-to-end process for converting to MP3, incorporating in my I-Tunes library, and backing up. Some minor niggles with the software, hence 4 star rating rather than 5. Higher fidelity bit rates should be offered. The process for converting a vinyl album to MP3 could be smoother; the need to assign individual track names and track numbers by entering file properties after exporting to MP3 is tedious. Lack of an on-line manual; possibly there are answers to all the above, but I couldn't find them in Help. I am sure I am not using this software to its full capabilities.
