Save The Environment

T2 Direct Ltd’s Environmental Policy

As a responsible retailer T2 Direct Ltd is committed to minimising our impact on the environment. Whilst we continue be an increasingly successful and expanding business we also recognise that growth must not come at the expense of the environment. As a result, we take our commitment to environmental issues very seriously.

To that end, we always ensure our products are manufactured responsibly and are delivered to our warehouse and then on to our customers using postal carriers and couriers with proven track records of environmentally responsible practice. In addition, we are constantly looking at ways to improve our energy efficiency in our offices and warehousing operation, not just minimising packaging and waste disposal but also crucially the carbon footprint implication of our transport operations – consolidating shipments and deliveries wherever possible to reduce CO2 emissions.

Our Despatch Operation and the Environment

Every day at T2 Direct we despatch a large number of packages to our customers. As well as striving to ensure that each package is delivered quickly and safely to every customer’s door, we are committed to using only responsible carriers to carry out our deliveries. Accordingly, we split our package despatch operation between The Royal Mail and DHL, as in addition to their proven track records of efficient package delivery, both these organisations comply with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations plus endeavour to meet and exceed appropriate environmental good practice standards.

Royal Mail
The Royal Mail aims to integrate environmental and social considerations into its business operations ensuring high standards of environmental performance. Their stated aim is to reduce consumption of materials, to reuse rather than dispose of whenever possible, and to promote recycling and the use of recycled materials, plus they are committed to the prudent use of fuel, energy, water, raw materials and other resources, including progressively increasing their use of renewable energy sources. The Royal Mail works together with T2 Direct to minimise the environmental impact of their combined operations, through a partnership approach developing, wherever practical, new products and services that seek to achieve greater sustainability.

DHL Courier
DHL’s ongoing intention is to tackle climate change with their ambitious GoGreen Program whose main goal is to improve their carbon dioxide efficiency - reducing the CO2 emissions that are generated every time a letter and parcel is sent, for every tonne of cargo transported, and for every square metre of warehouse space used. DHL is a front runner in this regard and in 2008 the Carbon Disclosure Project confirmed that DHL were the only transport and logistics provider listed in their Global 500 Leadership Index which recognizes transparency and accountability in climate protection strategies.

Our Warehousing Operation and the Environment

In addition to our ongoing efforts to improve our delivery efficiency, at T2 Direct we are also committed wherever possible to reduce the level of unnecessary plastic and cardboard used to pack our goods by the use of innovative yet highly robust protective materials. However, as an importer and retailer, T2 Direct still handles a considerable amount of paper and cardboard which we recycle and use in the production of corrugated board, thereby minimising the requirement for new packaging materials. As the recycling of one tonne of paper uses 70% less energy than manufacturing paper from trees and 40% less water, we are contributing to efforts to use resources responsibly whenever possible. Every small effort counts and we do not stop there – with plastics from pallet wrap and packaging being collected, recycled and used in the production of new plastics and fibres.

WEEE: Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive aims to reduce the amount of WEEE being produced and encourages everyone to reuse, recycle and recover. The Directive also aims to improve the environmental performance of businesses that manufacture, supply, use, recycle and recover electrical and electronic equipment. With that directive in mind, any unsalable electrical products which T2 may wish to recycle are collected by WEEE regulated and authorised companies for processing in their specialised recycling centres. Throughout the supply chain, T2 Direct has a firm commitment to the environment and we operate in full compliance of this directive.
